Dialog boxes

When some of the toolbar buttons are clicked, dialog boxes will appear for further user interaction, such as selecting a special character to insert. Clicking on a tag name in the XML tag path will also bring up a dialog box.

In the Online Editor versions prior to 5.0, modal dialogs were used for user interaction. A modal dialog takes total control and thus does not allow the user to access the parent/main window. When a modal dialog appears, you must always close it before continuing work in the parent/main window. Some browsers do not support this feature in the correct way.

Starting from version 5.0, the OE makes use of non-modal dialog boxes. Because of that, you will be able to work with the parent/main window even if a dialog is being displayed. This is however not recommended. Whenever a dialog box appears it should be closed before the parent/main window is used. The following screenshot shows one of the dialog boxes.
